TWO BIG SURPRISES! I’m thrilled to announce that my book, SELF MADE, is out in Spanish today! It’s called ¡ADELANTE! Cómo Ser Emprendedora y Autosuficiente Para Alcanzar Una Vida Rica y Realizada, which besides feeling like a monumental accomplishment - to me it literally feels like coming home.

Experience Double the Empowerment

I am so monumentally excited that I literally have to pinch myself. As many of you know, I’ve been working non-stop on my book, SELF MADE, which came out this past spring, and aims to empower multicultural women to become self-reliant and rich in every way. So it’s with so much love and gratitude that I can now share the news with you that on August 30 the book will also be available in Spanish.

The 2016 Olympics have me thinking about the notion of excellence. As I watch so many of these young athletes deliver what might likely be the performance of their lifetimes, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of awe and admiration toward the level of grit that these individuals have to call in... I am especially proud of all the Latina athletes representing our cultures and communities with such grace and skill.

Nothing makes me prouder than the prospect of Latina women making real strides, leaving their mark and demonstrating the power of growth - which is why this week I honor one of the great women we all need to know: U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios.

Embracing the Sharing Economy

Here’s a confession: there was a time when the words social media, apps and even the term high-tech used to send me into fits of panic. “How am I ever going to keep up with this stuff, never mind learn it,” I would ask myself, daunted time and again by the pace and non-stop dynamism of the all-consuming Internet.

Supporting Each Other Is A Must!

Supporting Each Other Is A Must!

As women entrepreneurs, I truly believe it’s our duty to support one another, to provide that little boost upward, that extra push that someone may need to move forward. We all start from different places and progress at our own paces, but the one thing we all have in common, is that every now and again, no matter where we are, we could all use a hand.

We know that life is always uncertain. Look at what happened last week with the Supreme Court divided on immigration. These are things that make us afraid, worried about our futures. But I believe it is precisely in these challenging moments that the self-made woman rises up with strength and perseverance, and keeps going—because that’s what we do. We don’t give up. We keep fighting for things!

Wow. So far, the summer of 2016 has been all about radical achievement! After what seemed like some of the most grueling months of my life, I can honestly say I feel proud, accomplished, and more than anything optimistic about the future of women’s empowerment through self-reliance.

What a week! Two nights ago Hillary Clinton became the first woman in history to become the nominee for her party, in order to run for the Presidency of the United States. This glass ceiling has been shattered and now all women know it may be possible for all of us in the future.

This is the year we become SELF MADE

Posted on 05/30/2016 @ 05:30 PM

It’s been four years since we have been on this journey together to control our financial destinies through empowerment and entrepreneurship. I have loved meeting and getting to know all of you on this road. Along the way we have spoken about how this is your home, but also, how important it is for us to not marginalize ourselves; and for us to venture outside of our comfort zone and meet new people, to create a new world for ourselves in the mainstream. This is the year we become SELF MADE.

Now, it’s been a busy beginning of the year! I have been on the road meeting many of you, and I am also about to launch my book, SELF MADE: Becoming Empowered, Self-Reliant, and Rich in Every Way (Random House, May 31st 2016). I cannot lie, it has been hard to take on an endeavor like this, and I carry you all with me. I often wonder, if this has been so hard for me and I have age, wisdom, experience, contacts, partners and 30 years of experience on my side, I can only imagine how hard it is for all of you in your journey to forge a new path, to break out of your comfort zone and create a new reality for your yourselves and your families. That is why we all have to support each other.

You have all heard me say that my theme last year was “Completion,” and for 2016 it is "Manifest with Ease.” Well, as we all know, when it comes down to actually going for it, when we are finally ready to embark on doing big things, they don’t come easily and we become afraid. Guess what? I, too, get scared.

I am proud of Jada Pinkett Smith. I realize I judged her. I had put her in a box of “celebrity wife”, but all along she clearly had cultivated courage, strength, and character.

It’s the end of 2015 (there will never be another 2015) and the beginning of 2016. Who is the "New You" for next year? I find that the thing I have come to love the most about life is change. It is inevitable. Good things don’t last, but neither do bad things.

Sometimes, when we are working on something, we get to the point where we think, "It’s in the bag. We‘ve got it. It will finally be ours", and then the rug gets pulled from under us, and we feel as though we have failed. Like the joke is on us.
