Sonia Sotomayor is the Court's 111th Justice, it’s first Hispanic Justice, and it’s third female Justice. Sonia graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University, received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1979, where she was an editor at the Yale Law Journal. She was an advocate for the hiring of Latino faculty at both schools.
Sonia Sotomayor was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Barack Obama in May of 2009.
Fun Fact: Sonia was inspired to go into a legal career and become a judge by watching the Perry Mason television series.
